Wonderful cruise: Exploring the Gulf of California, a living sea and desert isles on board Nat Geo Venture.

April

Pros: Fantastic opportunity to learn and experience unique plants and animals that survive on islands in the Sea of Cortez. The type of cruise would be a unique and exciting experience for adults, children, and families.

Cons: I do not find any cons! Infants may not enjoy the trip, however.

Recommended: Yes

We loved lectures and direct sight learning about the different geological formations of Baja California and the islands in the Sea of Cortez and Loreto, the original capital of Baja. On board Venture, we observed much wildlife in the sea: whales flip-flopping the flukes high, a school of curious sea lions coming at us, tagging or chasing schools of jumping dolphins. A sheer joy was watching nesting or flying (high in the sky) sea birds (pelicans, tropical birds, albatross, bobbies, and others). There were many unique activities like Zodiac riding to follow or chase whales and dolphins, kayaking and snorkeling in a quiet bay, and hiking to observe land iguanas and desert flowers. We highly recommend this remarkable and joyous weeklong cruise to all age groups except children under three.
